Strapped to a chair and by speakers squeezed by a combination of numbers - that you know maybe from your last doctor visit, when you do not pay the consultation fee wanted. The agent Alex Mason, however, it is a completely new and completely unfamiliar experience. When the combination is of course not the PIN number of his debit card, but a much greater mystery.
Call of Duty: Black Ops begins immediately awakens the mysterious and playful curiosity: What is behind these seemingly innocuous numbers? Why Mason with electric shocks and nerve poison is being tortured? Why would he kill Fidel Castro? And why he does not remember anything more? First time in the staging of highlights rich and poor in content feats CoD series, does the action. A few minutes are enough to ensure not only the desire for an even bigger, more bombastic blast your only drive, Black Ops to play until the final credits.

But under the ambitious and explosive action of the story is hidden behind only a delicate touch of Nothing: The gameplay is so ready to suck like the thumb of a
early weaned infant and enemies as smart as brain-amputated grouse.
Each Call of Duty game is faced with the same Problem: The expectations of fans worldwide are in a tight corset, which provides specifically for a good figure, but innovation and originality can hardly breath to breathe. Therefore, it falls on the more positive, if Treyarch kept trying to pump fresh blood into the parched genre. But the impressive sequences, such as a lead-based tour boat in Vietnam or the outbreak of a Russian prison you Black Ops always sends back to the shooting gallery.

If an opponent across wave after another slosh over you, then pushing with increasing pain in the sustained fire fingers always more a question: Would have been such a deeper grip in the mothballs of game design really necessary? Again and again have to run it only after a certain action and thus trigger the story script before the attackers tide ebbs. In these sequences, it seems almost as though Treyarch is afraid of its own size and seeks salvation in the flight into long forgotten genre bad habits.
But when we thought that Black Ops developed a disappointment on a high level, we had finally geballert by two-thirds of the game and blown up - and get only a glimpse of the furious finale. The more you play, the more adrenaline flowing through your veins. Towards the end of the story plays cleverly on the keyboard of emotions.
Time and again statistics are circulating the net that many players give up well before the credits - all the more incomprehensible that Treyarch only in the last third of an ace after another out of his sleeve and shaking has chosen such a high degree of difficulty: If you just your first steps in shooter genre dares to draw you some passages from Black Ops away even on the normal difficulty level the ground under their feet. From each and every cutscene scripted event of Black Ops flows the ambition to cast very big Hollywood movies on the screen. The graphic was with great attention to detail, polished to a shine, even though the engine already patina attaches. But except for some muddy textures and low detail PS3 and Xbox 360 can be found even with a magnifying glass no criticisms. The sound of your neighbors could lead to panic buying at the supermarket and then barricading in the basement. But the Russians are coming to the game - but which quite formidable.
The German audio mix is, however, a single declaration of war on the atmosphere: Far too often parrot the undoubted professional speaker just talk - no matter whether it even fits the current game. This criticism might seem petty as an arithmetic book A8 DIN, but the seriousness of the situation is thus completely flutes.
